Above the habitual fray and the city’s calibrated clamor, where Barcelona’s urban grid gives way to pine-scented forest and winding hillside roads, METT Barcelona feels distant from the world below. The unassuming entrance doesn’t say much. The lobby features a central wrought-iron staircase, a nod to the 1920's style. Between are spaces for lounging and snug corners ideal for downtime, whether leafing through coffee table books or sipping a margarita. But the real magic happens once you step out onto the tiered-wooden terrace trimmed by lavender and olive trees where the sweeping view of the city unravels.

Expect large mattresses where you can roll, spread or stretch out and doze off at night like a Pyrenean log. Linens strike the right diplomatic tone between softness and five-star crispness. Rooms are fitted with double-glazed windows to block off the unnecessary outside noise from the adjacent amusement park during the day, while blackout curtains obstruct any unwanted light should one indulge in a late afternoon siesta. - Complimentary shuttle hours are limited — plan around them. The hotel shuttle runs on a fixed timetable between 11am and 4pm (depending on demand and season). If you're planning a day trip into the city, book your slot in advance. If you are out for late drinks or staying in for an after-party, you will need to secure your own transport back to the hotel.
- Dining is tapas-only by day. The on-site restaurant keeps things light during daytime hours. If you are famished and after a more substantial meal, you will need to pop into town. A taxi, Uber or public transport will get you there but always factor the drive in relation to the hotel’s hilltop location.
- Room placement is key. Rooms that are further from the on-site restaurant and the ones that face away from the amusement park are the ones to book.
- Time your stay for the vibe you want. Weekends tend to draw a more local crowd to the rooftop, especially in warmer months. If you're after a low-key atmosphere and calmer experience, a midweek stay is the one to keep an eye on.
